Diana O asked:

Our new lesson is school on Physical Education is volleyball. My teacher wanted the class to classify the five moves of volleyball and show how they are to be done. Can someone help me? I’m not on volleyball really. So it’s hard for me.

1) Setting - you put your hands above your face in the shape of the ball and hit it only using the tip of ur fingers.

2)Digging - put one hand out like u r going to punch someone than ur other hand around it. when the ball comes at u hit it with ur arms somewhere before the wrist and after the elbow.

3)Spiking - when the ball is in the air by the net u jump up and hit it over with one hand.

4)Blocking - when the ball is coming over you jump up and try to block the ball using only ur hands and try not to let ur hands go on the other side of the net.

5)Serving - there r 2 types of serving overhand and underhand. Underhand is easier all you have to do is hold the ball in front of u below ur waist, bend over, swing ur arm backward than forward and hit the ball. Overhand, what u do is stand up straight and through the ball up than u hit it with ur hand

Serve is not a move that is played during a rally. Only at the beginning.

the big ones are.
PASS (a.k.a Bump, Dig)
SET
SPIKE (a.k.a Attack)
you will usually hear them in the same context. since they are part of the flow / offense of the game. The other 2 (of equal importance is SERVE and BLOCK.

PASS - take the ball when it crosses the net (from the other side) and get it to the setter’s spot (ideally near the net on your side between the middle and weak (a.k.a right) side hitters.
SET - take a pass from your team mates and put in the the air to allow your attacker (hitters) to hit the ball for a kill (when your hitter hits the ball and the other team fails to dig the ball resulting in a point or sideout (depending on what scoring method is used)

Spike / Attack - hitting the ball that is set (various types of set.. too many to name and changes on the type of offense you run) across the net

Serve - putting the ball in play (just like in tennis)

Block - to jump up and stretch your hands (usually above the net) to try and prevent the other team from htting the ball to score a point or side out. If you can’t reach above the net, you can do what is known as a “soft block” that usually means your hands are wide open w/ the palms facing up towards the sky / gym ceiling and you hope your opponent hits the balls straight down into your hands and it bounces off your hands back into the air, allowing your team to transition to offense.

Lol, well, a bunch of people already gave their answers but ehh what the heck maybe you need to tally all the ones that are similar :]

1. Serve
2. Set
3. Pass/Bump
4. Spike/Hit
5. Block

(Oh btw, no offense or anything, but volley, isn’t a move. To volley the ball means to actually have a ball going back and forth from the opposing side to your side, that’s a good volley. A bad volley is when you serve the ball, and you score, and that process repeats over and over again making the game veryyyyyyyy boring.)
