maggie mayyy asked:

I am a senior in high school, and I just joined the volleyball team because they didn’t even have enough girls to fill their positions. I had experience with volleyball, so I tried it out. I just hate that we always loose! We are slow, we can’t communicate, we can’t pass, hit, or block. I just don’t even know how to fix this, and I wish i could just be the savior to the team. We haven’t won a volleyball game yet! Please help!

try getting a better coach. like a coach that is tough and will help you with ur overall gamee.

It’s hard to win a game with no communication. Volleyball is 90% mental and 10% physical, remember that often and always. If you’re team isn’t in it and don’t care to win, you won’t win, period. If you can find a way to motivate them, then do so.

Call a team meeting, have hangouts with just the team, try to make friendships or some form of bond that creates trust. If that doesn’t work, then you can kiss a win goodbye. Your team sounds hopeless, but nothing is ever impossible.

Good luck.

them influence them to get out there and want to get better and want to win thats not going to be easy but you also have to get them to practice or you wont get anywhere

the biggest thing that would help is an experienced coach that knows what they are doing. if you are going to be the savior, then you are basically going to be a coach on the court. i don’t know what your coach is like, but it sounds like s/he doesn’t do much. you have to be able to tell your teammates how to do stuff. tell them what they are doing wrong and how to change it. be the first one to get on the court for drills and be loud. my coach told me to lead by example. always do your best, sprint as fast as you can, dive when you have to, etc. remind the girls to talk on the court when they get quiet. usually as a leader, you are going to be very vocal and some girls may take it the wrong way. but from what i have seen being loud works way better than being silent. pump up the spirits if everyone is quiet, give high fives during practice and games, cheer loudly, etc.

good luck with your team and i hope i helped at least a little.

have a team meeting with your coach and discuss what you guys are good at and what things you need to work on.
find stuff on the internet like bettering your blocks or stuff like that.
everyone can set individual performance goals that you can measure.
(ex. one goal can be like to talk to team mates before every serve, like giving feedback, if the other team is serving to say if they serve deep or short, stuff like that)
and once you achieve your goal you can set a higher one.

team bonding is another good way to bond with the team. have fun activities that you can do as a team. the game of volleyball is to work together and if someone doesn’t like another person, it just brings the whole team down. also letting your teammates trust you when getting the ball.

make sure that everyone knows the volleyball basics, such as passing, hitting, setting. making sure everyone has the basics make the team better.

hope this helped =]
